Make Davaoeños fashion forward… that’s the goal of budding designer and entrepreneur Mimi Tupas. Mimi is the brains behind Pickled Pink, one of the trendiest boutiques in the city. When I visited the boutique, I noticed two things.

The first thing that caught my eyes are the varied choices. All of their merchandise seem to be hand-picked and are of good quality. There was practically no item in sight that was not stylish. Every top, jeans, skirt, shoes and accessory was tempting me to buy it. Their selections cater to every fashionistas’ style. They have clothes for those with more mature tastes such as their Ilaya shrugs. They also have stuff for the younger fashionistas. They have relatively plain (but not boring) clothes which may be used for daily wear. But the real must-buys are their embellished tops which will make any girl stand out in a crowd, be it in the mall or in an overcrowded bar.

Another reason to visit Pickled Pink are the clothes, bags and shoes that are exclusively sold at the boutique. Last year, Mimi designed Possibilitees, a versatile top which can be worn whichever way a fashionista desires. It can be a tube top, a halter top, a wrap-around… the possibilities are limited only by one’s imagination. Davaoeña Pam Gonzales, VIP Services Manager of Store Specialists, Inc., proudly wore a black Possibilitee and a white one in the Preview feature on Manila’s Best Dressed (July 2006). Possibilitees come in ten regular colors and two limited editions. Mimi also designs shoes, bags and accessories.

Mimi shares that her aces are not the clothes she sells, but her sales team. Pickled Pink’s salesladies are not the usual pesky hard sellers. Rather, they are helpful, and very much knowledgable about their merchandise. They rarely give you that puzzled look when you ask them the price, available sizes and other information. They will even give you helpful suggestions in mixing and matching if you ask them.

But would Davao be fashion forward if only the ladies get a makeover by Mimi? Of course not. Due to the persistent inquiries of the male companions of Pickled Pink shoppers, Mimi, and husband, Jun Tupas, expanded Pickled Pink and dedicated half of it to fashion for men. The expansion is name Peppered Blue. Peppered Blue caters the fashion needs of Davao’s stylish men. It offers casual and more formal clothes for men.

Joseph is wearing a horizontal striped long-sleeved polo (PhP 995) and distressed jeans (PhP 1500).

Peppered Blue is the exclusive distributor in Davao of Fused shirts. Fused is made by young and talented graphic artists which use shirts are their canvasses. Their shirts are unique and definitely eye-catching.

Pickled Pink and Peppered Blue are definitely not your typical boutiques which simply aim to sell. Rather, it a fashion haven with the goal of perpetuating a trendier, fashion forward Davao City.

So if you want to be part of Mimi and Jun’s movement to makeover Davao… visit Pickled Pink and Peppered now and get the look that is right for you.

Pickled Pink and Peppered Blue are located at the Fashion Walk strip, 2nd Floor of Gaisano Mall of Davao. You may contact Mimi Tupas through (082) 227-8028.
